What is Canine Musical Freestyle?

Canine freestyle is a musical performance choreographed to display the dog and handler's talent, creativity, enjoyment and bond that the team shares.  It is a fun sport for the dog and handler, and for the audience too!

The object of musical freestyle is to display the dog and handler in a creative, innovative, and original dance, using music and intricate movements to showcase teamwork, precision, artistry, costuming, athleticism and style in interpreting the theme of the music.

Musical freestyle routines should create a visually exciting display that is enjoyable to watch and which is equally enjoyable to dogs and handlers executing the programs.  Canine freestyle is a showcase that truly demonstrates the joys and fun of bonding with your pet.

Who can do freestyle?

Anyone at any age that wants to have fun with their dog.

What kind of dogs can do freestyle?

It is enjoyed by dogs of all ages and breeds.

What do you need to do freestyle?

Yourself, your dog and some favorite music and imagination!

Why should I do freestyle?

By building a routine with our own music and your dog, it helps you to become bonded with your special dog friend.  It is also a great way to build confidence in yoiur own training as well as the confidence in the dog.  It is a great outlet for energy and an excellent cross-training sport for other activities like agility and obedience.

Where can I do freestyle?

Just about anywhere.  You can do demos at nursing homes, hospitals, schools, dog shows, fun meets, etc.  You can also compete for titles in freestyle at either live performances or video entries that are judged.
