The Educated Pet® offers behavior consultations for both dogs and cats.
Millions of pets are relinquished every year because of quite solvable behavior problems.
Unfortunately, many owners don't know
where to turn for help. At The Educated Pet®,
we work to keep these animals in their homes with happy owners. We are the people
to
turn to for help to solve the majority of the issues you may encounter with your pet.
Consultations provide personalized
assistance and guidance with many canine and feline problems such as:
Inappropriate
elimination
Aggression
Destruction (digging, chewing, etc.)
Hyperactivity
New pet introduction
Child/pet compatibility
We will work
with you to solve many common, (and some not so common) behavior problems.
We
will help you when your dog is destructive or constantly escaping, we will aid in correcting
excessive barking and over-reactive behavior, and we will supply you with the skills to instill
confidence in your fearful dog. Many of our clients come to us for help in resolving aggression
issues with their dogs. We work with both aggression directed toward people and aggression
between dogs.
Our expert staff is also available to assist with feline behavior issues such as
urine-marking or
inappropriate elimination. We also work with over-reactive
and fearful cats.
Our goal when working with you and your pet is to create a relationship of respect, understanding,
and trust between you and your furry family member.
During
a typical behavior consultation, we spend two to three hours with you at the initial visit.
At this time we take a thorough behavior history of your pet and the problems that you are facing.
We spend time evaluating your pet and determining the best course of treatment for your unique situation.
We take time to explain our findings to you and to train you in
the techniques you will be using.
We provide you with written material to support
the information that we give you. We take notes for you,
and provide
you with a record of what we said at the consultation. Before we leave you on this first visit,
we make sure that you fully understand what your next steps need to be.
After your initial consultation,
we are available for brief telephone clarification calls to answer any questions
that
you may have and we offer follow-up visits as needed.
Consultations can be held either in your home or at our easy
to access office in North Park.
